Privacy Policy

Nasiha is a community, so unlike a book it has accounts and a server. This page says exactly what is stored, which parts are public, which are private, who else ever sees any of it, and how to delete all of it.

The short version. You need an account, and an account means an email address. What you publish is public — your display name, your advice, your comments. What you save, block and report is private and is never shown to anyone but you and, for a report, the moderator. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind — not switched off by default, simply absent. Deleting your account deletes your posts and comments with it.

What is public

These are visible to anyone using the app, and advice can be read without an account at all.

WhatWho sees it
Your display name Everyone. You choose it and can change it whenever you like; it does not have to be your real name.
Your short bio Everyone, if you write one. It is optional and starts empty.
Advice you publish Everyone, once a moderator has approved it. Before that, only you.
Comments you write Everyone, as soon as you post them, unless a word filter holds one for review.

Your email address is never public. It is not shown on your profile, not attached to your posts, and not visible to other members anywhere in the app.

What is private

WhatWhy it exists
Your email address So you can sign in. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, we never receive the real one.
Advice you save Your own reading list. Nobody else can see what you have saved, including the author.
Members you block So you stop seeing them and they stop seeing you. The person you blocked is not told.
Reports you make Sent to the moderator with the content you reported. The author is never told who reported them.
Helpful votes and “I tried this” marks Used to rank advice. Totals are shown; who voted is not.
A record of when you posted Timestamps of write actions, used only to enforce per-account limits so one account cannot flood the community.
Moderation decisions Every approval and removal is recorded with the moderator, the reason and the time, so decisions can be reviewed and reversed. This record is not readable from the app by anyone.

What stays on your phone

Some things never reach the server at all: the draft you are part-way through writing, the topics and reading languages you have chosen, posts you have hidden from your own feed, and anything waiting to be sent while you have no connection. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Who else is involved

Supabase

The database, the accounts and the sign-in are run on Supabase, which stores and processes everything described above on our behalf. See Supabase’s privacy policy.

Apple

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and tells us only what you agree to share. Choosing Hide My Email means we receive a relay address and never your real one, and that works normally — we only ever send account email to it. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

The mail provider

Two kinds of email leave the system. Sign-in messages go to you. And once a day, if anything is waiting to be reviewed, a summary goes to the moderator: how many items are waiting, how long the oldest has waited, and the titles of up to five pending posts. That summary is delivered by Resend, which means those titles pass through a mail provider on the way. Nothing else about you is in it — no names, no email addresses, no bodies.

Permissions Nasiha asks for

None. The app requests no location, no notifications, no camera, no photo library, no microphone, no contacts and no motion data. There is no permission prompt anywhere in it.

Moderation, and what it means for your writing

Advice is reviewed by a person before anyone else can read it. That means a moderator reads what you wrote, including while it is still unpublished and visible only to you. Comments publish immediately, except where a word filter holds one for review; if that happens you are told it is awaiting review, and the moderator sees it.

Removed content stays visible to its author and disappears for everyone else, so you are never left guessing whether something was deleted. The reason a moderator recorded is kept in the moderation record; it is not currently shown to you.

What Nasiha does not do

Deleting your account

Profile → delete your account. It is immediate and it is not reversible.

It removes your account, your display name and bio, your advice and your comments, your saves, your votes, your blocks and your reports. Advice you published disappears from the community along with everything else; there is no way to keep a post and remove its author. The moderation record keeps that a decision was taken, without the content it was taken about.

Data retention

What you publish stays until you delete it, delete your account, or a moderator removes it. Backups of the database are kept so the community can be restored if something fails; a deleted account may persist in a backup copy for a short period before that copy is replaced.

Children

Nasiha is not published in the Kids Category and is not directed at children. It needs an account, and members write to each other, so it is meant for people old enough to take part in a public conversation.

Changes to this policy

If Nasiha’s data behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
